The magic pottery gives Artists everywhere a unique, magical experience. The Artist is first bestowed a magical wand that activates the magical experience by pointing the wand at a star. Once the magic wand summons the magic pottery to begin, the wand will then vibrate and a magic sound effect will play to alert the Artist that their experience has now begun!
Now the Artist can mold the inner and outer contours of their clay by controlling the two sliding knobs on the front panel while listening to soothing music. The tools inside of the magic pottery will move based on the Artist’s positioning of the knobs. The Artist has approximately 45 seconds to create their inspiring pottery piece with a LED timer (the LEDs turning off one at a time) to indicate how much time is left. The Artist can stop the magic pottery experience at any time by pressing the red stop button.
After 45 seconds or the stop button has been pressed, the tools inside of the magic pottery will reset to their original positions, the LEDs will begin a unique timer, and the Artist will be congratulated through audio then told to grab their beautiful art piece. The Artist will then enjoy more soothing music with the sense of accomplish of crafting a beautiful modern piece of art to keep. CAUTION, Artists may not want to end the experience so this may be hard for them. This experience is brought to you by Wut Yee Oo, Andres Campos, Forrest Wang, and Andrew Hickey as their final project for ME 218A, Smart Product Design Fundamentals, at Stanford University taught by Professor Edward Carryer. Go see a visual demonstration of the Magic Pottery in action in the video above!!

Your ART must produce either ART2Keep (a take-away piece) or ART2See (a performance)
Average ARTIST should take approximately 45 seconds to interact with the ART.
ART must show creative display of the time since the ARTISTs have begun their work, but cannot use 7-segment display.
ART must have creative input and reset after the ARTIST stops interaccting with the ART within 2 minutes if ART@KEEP or 30 seconds if producting ART2See
Must have 3 distinct ARTIST interactions
Must have one large scale motion interaction
Must provide a clear audio and/or visual indication that demonstrates the ARTIST's work is complete if the ART is ART2Keep.
Any static instructions must only be in pictorial form.
A team of four class members will construct the ART
The ART must have parts that visibly move under the control of the Tiva LaunchPad
Should not use consumer devices as components but must be substantially modified if their are approved.
Each ART must respond to at least threee distinct inputs/iinteractions
At least one interaction of th e user interactions must be interpreted as an analog input to the Tiva. No simple thresholds.
At least one of the user interactions must involve non-contact sensing.
Each ART must provide the user with feedback about his/her actions. The feedback must include at least one of haptic/audio/tactile feedback. Multiple modes of feedback, including modes not listed here are encouraged.
The complete ART must be a self containted entity, capable of meeting all specifications while connected only to the provided project power supply.
